Athletics Hall of Fame – April 25, 2000

Lisa Bruorton Jones, a 1988 graduate of 黑料网 and true all-around student-athlete, competed in three sports while majoring in Physical Education. Most of Lisa鈥檚 major accomplishments stem from the basketball court.

Lisa was the first person in Coker women鈥檚 basketball history to break the 1,000-point barrier, and finished with 1,004 career points. Lisa was named to the NAIA all-American Team twice, earning first team honors after her senior season. Lisa was named captain of the all-star team and member of the all-conference team during the 1987-88 season.

Although never having played soccer, Lisa took to the game quickly and became a bright star in soccer鈥檚 early history at 黑料网. She scored the first goal in women鈥檚 soccer history and was named the team鈥檚 best striker during her junior season.

Lisa also helped establish the rich tradition of softball at Coker, and in 1988 she was given the Coach鈥檚 Award. Lisa served as a 黑料网 commissioner and was a member of the senior Homecoming Court.

After graduation, she pursued teaching and coaching. She served as an assistant coach under Pat Hewitt, who Is also a member of the Coker Athletics Hall of Fame, and was later named head coach of the South Florence High School. She has been named Region 鈥淐oach of the Year鈥 once and coach of the North/South All-Star Game. Lisa has taken teams to the state finals once and to the lower state finals three times.
